It
seemed that home field advantage played a role early on. The Storm got on the
board first with a Robert Truesdale five-yard run for a touchdown. The extra
point attempt was no good, however. The Jaguars were not able to get anything
going offensively in the first quarter and it continued into the second
quarter. The Storm extended their lead in the second quarter with a Kaleb
Setzer 32-yard field goal.
Moe
Neal did get Forestview on the board late in the second quarter with an 11-yard
touchdown run. Moe Neal’s run for the two-point conversion cut the Storm lead
to 9-8. The Jaguars were knocking on the door late and looked like Moe Neal
scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Colton Guthrie, but officials ruled him
short at the one-yard line as the half expired.
That
momentum continued in the second half. On the first play, fullback Trell
McCaskill gave the Jaguars the lead with a 65-yard touchdown run. Moe Neal’s
two-point conversion run gave the Jaguars a seven-point lead at 16-9. Neal and
McCaskell continued to rip apart the Storm in the third quarter. Neal scored on
runs of 4 and 35 and McCaskill scored on an 18-yard run. Neal and Tate Payne
each had runs for two-point conversions. The Jaguars scored 30 points in the
third quarter alone.
The
Storm was able to get a safety in the fourth quarter when Forestview was set to
punt deep in their own territory, but the ball sailed over the punter’s head
into the end-zone. Each team had three turnovers. Isaiah Foust recorded two
interceptions for the Storm. One was from Moe Neal on a half-back pass. The
Storm also recovered a fumble on special teams. Jared Carter got Forestview’s
only interception on the night. The Jaguars defense recovered two fumbles.
Moe
Neal amassed 195 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
Trell McCaskill finished with 86 yards and two touchdowns.
“They
came ready to play. That’s what attributed to our slow start. They came ready
to play and we didn’t.” said Forestview head coach Chris Medlin “We came back,
kept our composure and kept playing. 2-0 in conference and a 10-game conference
win streak.”
Forestview
(3-3)(2-0) will look to keep that streak alive as they travel to North Gaston
(3-3)(1-1) next week. The Wildcats upset Ashbrook last night 10-0. Stuart
Cramer will travel to take on Lake Norman Charter (2-3)(0-2). The Knights lost
to East Gaston 12-7.
