Last
week, John Crawford did much of his damage through the air with 197 yards
passing. This week, he used his feet and amassed 135 yards rushing and only 92
yards passing. Moe Neal did most of the work with 185 yards rushing and five
touchdowns to lead the Jaguars.
After
the Forestview defense stopped Clover on their first drive, the Jaguar offense
went to work. Neal scored his first touchdown on an 80-yard burst into the
end-zone. Clover would answer that score in the second quarter with a 52-yard
touchdown run by Cody Payne. Clover then scored on a two-point conversion to
take the 8-7 lead.
However,
Forestview took the lead back toward the end of the first half with a Neal
12-yard run. Neal also scored on a two-point conversion. Things continued to go
right for Forestview in the second half. Neal scored on touchdown runs of three
and two yards and Trey Heavner’s extra points gave the Jaguars a 29-8
advantage.
The
Blue Eagles would simply not go away. They chipped away at the
Jaguar lead with a four-yard touchdown run by R.J. Moore. The two-point conversion failed however. But the Jaguars and Moe Neal shut
the door on any Clover comeback hopes in the fourth quarter. This time he took
it in from 52 yards to make it 36-14.
Clover
quarterback Noah Lindsey got Clover within two scores again with a two-yard
touchdown run with less than five minutes to go. But once again, the Jaguars
would not let the Eagles any closer. Set up by a Crawford 36-yard pass to Caleb
Mills, Forestview would find the end-zone one more time. This time, it was
back-up running-back Maurice Brice with an eight-yard run. The extra point
failed though, but it would not matter.
The
Jaguars will be home again as they host Kings Mountain, a 43-15 winner over
East Gaston. Clover will host Westwood.
