Ashbrook's Rally Falls Short Against Parkland

What started off as a rough homecoming night for Ashbrook in the first half just about turned into a triumphant victory in the fourth quarter. Down 30-26 with just less than two minutes left, Ashbrook was not able to make a stop and the Mustangs were able to run out the clock.

Parkland got on the board first with a 16-yard touchdown run by Quantay Kobe Young. The Mustangs extended their lead with a 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tyeous Sharpe to Braxton Rorie. The extra point kick made it 14-0. With the offense struggling, it was time for Ashbrook's defense to make a stand. They did. Parkland dropped back for a screen pass but it was intercepted by Demarius Hall and he took it 31 yards for a touchdown to get the Green Wave on the board. The extra point failed and the score remained 14-6.

Parkland stormed back though. Sharpe threw another touchdown pass. This time it was a 44-yarder to Deon Cobb. Ashbrook finally scored offensively with a one-yard quarterback sneak by Hayden Welle. The two point conversion failed, however.

Kicker Jesus DeLeon scored with a 24-yard field goal to give the Mustangs a 24-12 half-time lead. Parkland picked back up where they left off in the second half. Sharpe threw another touchdown pass to Rorie. This one was from 18 yards out. The extra point was blocked. The Green Wave defense would stiffen.

Ashbrook's offense would finally start clicking again in the fourth quarter. Cameron Welle would connect with tightend Malik Hyatt for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Welle's pass to British Brooks for a two-point conversion made it 30-20. Welle connected with Jalen Drayton for a 51-yard touchdown pass. The kick was blocked however. The Green Wave would not get another chance as the Mustangs kept possession and ran the clock out.

Tyeous Sharpe led the Parkland offense with 221 yards passing and three touchdowns. Rorie was his top receiver, hauling in 106 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Quantay Kobe Young led the rushing game with 115 yards and a touchdown.

Cameron Welle led Ashbrook's offense with 163 yards passing, 36 yards rushing and three touchdowns (one rushing). British Brooks led on the ground with 103 yards rushing. His 49 yard rush set up a one-yard touchdown run by Welle.
