Gaston, Lincoln and Cleveland Week 7 Conference Picks

Big South 3A/2A

(5-0)(1-0) South Point                    42
(2-3)(1-0) Hunter Huss                   14
The Huskies are riding on a two-game win streak, but the Red Raiders will be too hard for the Huskies to stop.

(2-3)(0-1) North Gaston                  14
(3-2)(1-0) Ashbrook                         41
The Green Wave seldom loses on Homecoming Night. The Wildcats will struggle against a Green Wave defense that pitched a shutout last week.

(3-2)(0-1) Stuart Cramer                14
(2-3)(1-0) Forestview                      35
Both teams have been bit by the injury bug. But Moe Neal is not one of those injured and will likely be the difference in the game.

(2-3)(0-1) East Gaston                    41
(2-2)(0-1) Lake Norman Charter    7
The Warriors fought hard last week after a hard-fought first half to South Point. They will be looking to take out some frustration.

Southern District 2A

(5-0)(1-0) East Lincoln                    42
(4-1)(1-0) Lincolnton                       35
This game will be closer than many people think. Lincolnton will put up a fight, but the Surratt Brothers will be the difference.

(3-2)(0-1) Newton-Conover           28
(4-1)(1-0) Maiden                            35
The Battle of the Devils is always an exciting game. Newton-Conover will try and get over last week’s upset against West Caldwell. Maiden will try and avoid losing two consecutive home games.

(3-2)(0-1) West Lincoln                  24
(2-3)(0-1) Bunker Hill                      20
The Rebels were shut out last week and Bunker Hill was blown out. Both teams will look to rebound.

(0-5)(0-1) Bandys                              14
(3-2)(1-0) West Caldwell                 28
The Warriors are looking to build on the momentum of their 42-30 win over Newton-Conover. Against a struggling Bandys team, that shouldn’t be too hard.

South Mountain 3A/2A

(2-4)(0-3) Chase                                 7
(5-0)(2-0) Crest                                 45
The Chargers starters should see some rest in the second half in this one.

(5-1)(2-1) Kings Mountain            35
(4-2)(2-1) Jimmy Draughn            14
The Wildcats are much improved over last year, but the Mountaineers are steaming from their 34-20 loss to Shelby.

(2-3)(0-2) East Rutherford            20
(3-2)(1-2) Burns                              23
Burns has been snake bit by injuries and it has shown. They should win a hard-fought game against East Rutherford.

(4-2)(3-0) East Burke                      13
(6-0)(3-0) Shelby                             48
The Cavaliers are also a much improved team from last year, but they will have a hard time against Shelby.

Southern Piedmont 1A

(5-0)(1-0) Thomas Jefferson       35
(6-1)(5-0) Carolina Crusaders      7
Undefeated Jefferson should still be undefeated after this one.

(0-4)(0-0) Highland Tech                    12
(1-4)(0-3) Mountain Island Charter 36
The Raptors should get their first ever conference win against the winless Rams.

Other

(2-3)(1-0) North Lincoln                 7
(3-2)(1-0) Mooresville                    45
This is a big mismatch. The Blue Devils should roll in this one.
